A medical emergency at the wheel has seen Police and paramedics respond to the main road between Shanklin and Ventnor tonight (Monday).
The incident – which has resulted in minor damage to a Ford Mustang Mach-E – has occurred on the S bends on Church Road, near to Big Mead.
Island Echo understands the male driver experienced a funny turn whilst driving between the towns of Shanklin and Ventnor.
He has been assessed by an enhanced care paramedic from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and is to be conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance.
The road was initially closed in both directions, for a short time, as passing firefighters from Ventnor stopped at the scene to provide assistance.
Church Road is now open to all traffic under give and take.

I hope the chap be ok ,just goes to show you never know when its going to happen to you, a medical episode can strike anyone any time
Yet another RTC on the double bend on Church Road – 3rd in the last six months!
When will we see meaningful speed camera controls working on this road? Neither of the speed awareness cameras (top of Church Road, and the one at the 20 mph signs at the bottom of the Big Mead) have been working on this road over the last 2 – 3 years. Island Roads need to get both speed awareness cameras working ASAP.
No one does 20mp along this Road,
or 20mph at Brading and Godshill High Streets.
Signs don’t do anything, motorists ignore them.
Speed Camera’s produce points on a licence and
fines.
AND THE MORE POINTS ONE GETS THE BETTER
PRIZES THEY RECEIVE
EG A BAN
A speed camera wouldn’t have stopped the chap having a ‘Funny turn’. I hope is ok & well on the mend now.
Experienced it myself, lots of funny turns on the island.
not another one! It’s about time we got these old drivers off the road! Mandatory 5 year retest for over 50s
Which “old driver”? Do you have inside info? Was it you, perhaps?
I have an impersonator.
Another Enough is Enough
It’s NOT me
I will sign mine off with my initials in future
J.S
I can’t believe this.
J.S
You are not intelligent enough to use those initials so just stop it.
Young people can have funny turns too
Name me a young funny turn, nowadays, Robo?
Is “funny turn” a recognised medical condition?
I doubt whether the driver of a Ford Mustang Mach-E would take much notice of speed cameras, still less signs.
That is so true.
Speed humps are required along this Road
Hopefully the driver is ok.
