UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and paramedics are all responding to a road traffic collision on Middle Road near Freshwater this evening (Wednesday).
1 appliances and the rescue tender from Newport are in attendance at the incident on Newport Road alongside an appliance from Freshwater. 2 fire officers are also en-route to the scene near to Afton.
It is understood that 2 vehicles have been involved in the crash, however details of any injuries sustained are currently unavailable.
The alarm was raised shortly before 19:15.
UPDATE @ 20:38 – No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the collision, which occurred a few hundred yards from the junction with The Causeway. It is thought 1 vehicle crashed into the rear of another.
Fire crews have successfully extricated 1 female casualty from 1 of the vehicles involved – a white Dacia Sandaero. She has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
Middle Road has now reopened in both directions following recovery.
