UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Emergency services including the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are this evening (Tuesday) attending a two car collision on Dover Street in Ryde.
Firefighters are working to free at least one woman from her vehicle following the collision between a Renault and a Audi at the junction of Melville Street.
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, two fire appliances and Police are all in attendance at the incident.
The road has been closed in both directions and as a result Southern Vectis buses are diverting via George Street.
UPDATE @ 19:15 – One person has been extricated from a Renault Scenic and is now being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. Paramedics have also assisted the driver of the second vehicle involved, an Audi A4.
Two fire appliances from Ryde are standing down and returning to station.
Recovery of the vehicles involved has been requested and the road remains closed.
UPDATE @ 20:30 – The incident has now been cleared. No one is thought to have sustained any serious injuries in the crash.
