UPDATED: Firefighters have tackled an electricity pole fire on Calbourne Road near Carisbrooke tonight (Saturday).
1 pumping appliance from Newport was mobilised to the scene near The Blacksmith Arms pub at just before 20:40 following reports of a fire in amongst trees lining the road.
The incident is understood to have plunged the local pub into darkness with electricity supplies cut to properties in the area surrounding Betty Haunt Lane.
The fire has been extinguished but fire crews remain in attendance.
UPDATE SUNDAY – Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks engineers have worked through the night to restore power to all properties.
The Blacksmith Arms pub is open for business as usual.
