UPDATED: Paramedics are attending to an elderly man who has been knocked off his mobility scooter in Lake this evening (Tuesday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police were called to Newport Road near the junction with Lamborbey Road at around 19:20.
Island Echo understands the gentleman has sustained a head injury in the incident.
Police have closed the main Sandown to Newport road in both directions with local diversions.
UPDATE @ 20:15 – The casualty, a man in his 70s, has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital under blue lights.
The road remains closed.
Meanwhile Police are appealing to the public to keep an eye out for a brown and white Jack Russell that fled the scene.
The dog is local and is called ‘Buster’. Anyone that finds the casualty’s dog is asked to return it to the scene of the accident.
UPDATE @ 21:10 – Buster the dog has been found safe and well. He is being cared for by friends of his owner.
The road has re-opened in both directions.
