Firefighters from 2 local stations have tackled an early hours property fire in Haylands, Ryde this morning (Saturday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is on scene at Bettesworth Road, where smoke and flames were seen issuing from a semi-detached residential property shortly before 01:00.
999 calls to fire control led to the mobilisation of 3 appliances from Ryde and Newport.
Equipped with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets, the first crews made entry into the address at just gone 01:00.
The situation has now been brought under control with a total of 4 BA, 1 HRJ and 1 Main Jet utilised to extinguish the fire.
Ventilation fans have been used to clear lingering smoke.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has a paramedic crew and an operational commander on scene but, thankfully, no persons have been injured.
Police are also in attendance but the circumstances behind this morning’s fire are currently unclear.
Initial on scene investigations are underway to determine a cause, with door to door enquiries being carried out by Police.
Bettesworth Road is closed in both directions between Southfield Gardens and Wrexham Avenue.
UPDATE @ 08:45 – Police are treating the fire as suspicious, with officers maintaining a presence at the property this morning.
