A 50-year-old Newport man has been arrested and charged with obstructing/resisting Police following a disturbance on a quiet residential street during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
Police were called at 02:13 to reports of a disturbance at an address on Fairmount Drive, Newport.
Neighbours were awoken by the commotion as multiple units descended on the area.
During the incident, it is alleged that Paul Bennett, 50, from Fairmount Drive, obstructed or resisted officers in the execution of their duty.
He was arrested and taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that Paul Bennett has been charged with the offence. He has been bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 14th June.
