Wight Eagles Ladies shared the spoils with Liphook United Ladies in a tightly contested score draw at the GKN Sports Ground last weekend (Sunday).
The Islanders started brightly against 3rd placed Liphook United, exchanging passes through the thirds.
A mistake at the back gave the Liphook attackers a 1-0 lead but shortly after the Eagles pushed for an equaliser and earned a corner shortly before HT. A Millie Tinsley delivery was headed on and fell to the feet of Emma Webb to slot home, bagging her first goal for the Eagles 1-1.
In the second-half the eagles came out pushing the Liphook United defence back into their own half and feeling the pressure as Kira Smith had a few chances to Stretch the defence.
Kira Smith was through on goal when she was fouled in the penalty box. From the resulting spot-kick Smith stepped up and coolly slotted home to give the Eagles the Lead 2-1.
Eagles were starting to feel the pressure in the last minutes of the game and the pressure told when a bouncing ball was hit sweetly into top corner to make it 2-2, stopping the Eagles taking all 3 points.
Full time: Wight Eagles 2-2 Liphook United
