There were delays on one of the Island’s busiest roads earlier this lunchtime (Friday) after a man was seen sat precariously on railings above the River Medina.
Police and paramedics were called to Medina Way at around 13:00 after a man was seen ‘sitting on the dual carriageway’ – Island Echo understands.
As a result of the incident, traffic heading northbound on the Dual Carriageway is delayed, with the flow down to 1-lane only.
It is understood that the male – who was seen filming those attempting to help him – was sat dangling his legs through the barriers threatening to jump into the cold water below.
The male has since left the railings of his own accord and is in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
There were delays in the area whilst the incident was dealt with.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for comment.

Omg glad he’s safe. He obviously needs help bless him, hope he gets it? go easy fella
Safe…. what a plank you are too
I Agree.
There are sadly many persons who need help on the island.
Ffs… let him jump. Fed up with these selfish men. And they are ALWAYS men. How much time and energy has he cost? Elsewhere, there are a hundred women suffering in silence….
thats so rude what both genders suffer with mental health issues

I agree with you there are so many women on this island struggling and in pure fear of leaving their houses because of men yet when a man comes into the frame of mental health it’s such a problem. I knew many young girls and older Middle Aged women who have done stuff to themselves that can’t be undone yet nothing was done for them but no one helped yet all of a sudden it’s a man seeking attention yet again
Shut up
