A 49-year-old man from Sandown pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.
Andrew Coward, of Fort Street, appeared before Magistrates on Tuesday charged with the offence which took place on 1st September on Avenue Road, Sandown.
Magistrates were told that Coward left his home and was seen walking down the road shouting abuse at a female. It was also noted that he was not wearing shoes at the time.
Coward then threw a road sign into the carriageway in front of oncoming traffic before Police arrived – at which point he was promptly arrested.
Defending himself, Coward told the court that he had been trying very hard to stay out of trouble since his last conviction and said:
“I’m out of order sometimes.”
He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 in costs alongside a £34 surcharge.

He got a bigger fine than that thing that was smashing all them windows how does that work?
Because she’s a vulnerable, helpless woman in need of protection and he’s a horrible man. And the law cant be seen to be victimizing a poor defenseless woman or it would mean the law was misogynistic. You’re not allowed to find fault with a woman no matter what she does or it proves you hate women. Don’t forget that women are afraid to walk in the street even in daylight because they don’t feel safe from nasty men who are all dangerous.
-At least that was the sort of thing that was written in here a few days ago so I suppose it must be true.
Has the right last name eh
49 years old? When to some people realise it’s time to grow up?
Sadly some people never grow up, he should know better
sadly, it would seem that Mr Coward has started taking it out on innocent people, for his own failings in his life.
It is not their fault that he is in a downward spiral – he needs to seek help or it will just get worse, until he is locked up, which won’t help either.
Is Mr Coward in full time employment? If not, the fine he was given is being paid by British Tax Payers, us. No consequence for his stupid, inconsiderate, dangerous actions. Given time this bloke will do something ‘stupid’ again and this is by his own admission. If it were funny I would call it a joke, but it’s not.
