UPDATED: Police have carried out a drugs raid on a property in Cowes this morning (Friday).
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Force Support Unit swooped on a residential address in Seaview Road in an unmarked vehicle, supported by local officers including a dog unit.
Carrying out a warrant under Operation Fortress, the officers searched the property at just gone 10:00, as first reported by Island Echo. Nearby residents were reassured of the situation by Police.
A number of evidence bags have been filled and removed from the property.
UPDATE @ 14:55 – A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has this afternoon said:
“Following community led intelligence we executed a warrant at an address in Seaview Road, Cowes this morning”.
“The warrant was executed by officers from the newly formed Wight Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, which incorporates the previous West Wight and Cowes Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
“No arrests were made as a result of this warrant but investigations continue into the supply of controlled drugs in the Cowes area.”
