Emergency services are this evening responding to a collision on the outskirts of Arreton involving a milk tanker and a car.
One person is trapped inside her vehicle, believed to be a 4×4, after colliding with the empty milk tanker at the junction of the A3056 Blackwater Road and East Lane shortly before 16:30.
Fire crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance with two appliances as they work to free the trapped driver using specialist cutting equipment.
Police have closed the A3056 with the junction of Merstone Lane, with traffic being diverted via Godshill. Delays are being experienced in the surrounding areas.
Southern Vectis Route 2 will not serve Merstone and will divert via Blackwater and Rookley.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have also attended the scene and are assessing the injuries sustained.
UPDATE @ 17:30 – The woman has been freed from the wreckage and fire crews have left the scene.
