A Mercedes-Benz has smashed through a garden wall on the main road through Binstead this evening (Friday). The single vehicle incident occurred just before 19:45 and has seen the luxury 4×4 come to rest partially on top of the stone structure between Gwndyr Close and Thornborough Close. It’s thought a medical emergency led to the vehicle ending up on the wrong side of the road and colliding with the wall. Debris has been scattered across the carriageway.
The male driver is currently being checked over by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, but appears to have escaped any significant injury. The main Newport to Ryde Road remains open in both directions under give and take with Police on scene. UPDATE – The vehicle has been recovered and the road has fully reopened.
