A driver fled the scene of a road traffic collision in Lake during the early hours of this morning (Sunday), leaving his vehicle on its side.
The collision, involving a silver VW Polo, occurred on Lake Hill at around 02:20 resulting in Police and one appliance from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responding to the incident.
According to eye witnesses the male driver of the small hatchback ran from the scene after colliding with a bollard, which has been left flattened.
Thankfully, the vehicle came to rest before crashing into a solid metal road sign.
