UPDATED: Police are conducting a search for the driver of a car that has crashed on Brading Downs tonight (Sunday).
The small red hatchback has sustained substantial damage in the single-vehicle collision, which occurred just before 22:30.
Island Echo understands the vehicle veered off the carriageway to the left whilst travelling towards Brading, before spinning and coming to rest on the opposite side of the road facing Newport.
Several Police units and a rapid response paramedic are on scene.
The incident has occurred adjacent to the View Point car parks however the road remains open.
UPDATE @ 23:20 – The vehicle, a Peugeot 206, has now been recovered by Bartletts Service Station.
Debris is being cleared from the road. Police are expected to leave the scene shortly.
