The driver of a van that crashed into a number of parked cars in Rookley overnight has been charged with drink driving.
Officers responded to the village on the outskirts of Newport when a Suzuki van caused damage to cars parked at the side of the carriageway.
The driver fled the scene but was arrested shortly afterwards.
57-year-old Daryn Mansell from Totland has been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit – namely 97 microgrammes. He has also been charged with failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report that accident.
