38-year-old Carl Isham has been banned from driving for 20 months following a crash in Whippingham that occurred whilst he was over the limit at the wheel.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police and ambulance crews rushed to Whippingham Road near the junction with Folly Lane on 14th April this year. They were alerted to an incident involving several vehicles, with 1 of the cars – a red Jaguar – reported to have left the carriageway.
It can now be revealed that the driver of the Jag, Carl Isham, of St Edmunds Walk in Wootton, was stopped by Police near the junction with Alverstone Road after walking away from the scene of the crash. He had a young child with him, who was then taken into the care of Police.
Thankfully, the child was uninjured in the crash.
Police carried out a roadside breath test, which indicated a positive result. Isham was subsequently arrested.
Appearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last Friday (28th April), Isham pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
The court heard that Isham was driving a Jaguar XJ6 on Whippingham Road when he was involved in a road traffic collision.
He blew an evidential reading of 53 at the Police Station, the legal limit being 35.
Magistrates banned Isham from driving for 20 months and fined him £350. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs with a £140 surcharge.
Shocking a driving ban for someone who never had a license!! Endangered at least 5 lives!! Whilst drunk!! Who’s going to pay for the 2 cars he wrote off then cause he didn’t have insurance either

What a joke. Should have been charged with child endangerment and thrown in prison. What’s stopping him from doing this s××× again if all he had to do was pay a fine?
Probably won’t even be willing to pay the fine, either never worked or will blame not being able to work irrespective of whether he held a licence.
What’s even more embarrassing if you look closely, is that he has also wet himself 🙂

So… a 38yo drunk while in charge of a 1780kg vehicle capable of high speeds and killing pedestrian in an instant ACTUALLY CRASHES it with child inside and gets 20 months ban
While 19yo drunk while in charge of 15kg Beryl scooter pushes it slowly, DOESN’T CRASH and even if he did hit a pedestrian fatality rates are muuuch lower, and he wasn’t transporting a child… gets 20 months ban?
And car guy doesn’t have a required insurance either?
Good to see that driving heavy, dangerous vehicles capable of killing a pedestrian in an instant require more responsibility than a teen on a scooter… except apparently it doesn’t, LOL.

Not what you’d expect from a Super Heroe
Disgusting sentence for the crime, especially as he was driving with a child. Like to know how he acquired a Jag, the law should be changed to state that any supplier of a car be it loan, or sale should be responsible for sighting and checking driving license and insurance – a vehicle is after all a lethal weapon in the wrong hands. So whoever owned the car, or let him “borrow” it should also be held responsible. It is about time some laws were drastically altered.

One of lifes wasters. I have no regard for drink or drug drivers. This scum bag cares not for other road users and pedestrians safety or the life and safety of the child in the car he was driving. Don’t care if he injures or kills himself, just don’t involve anyone else. What is wrong with the child’s mother letting him put this kid in his car. Some people are just not worthy.
This person is absolute scum,should have been thrown in prison for 5 years,never allowed to get behind the wheel of a car again and ordered to pay for all damaged caused and even more punishment for endangering a child. Hope he rotts.
