Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club enjoyed a successful day of racing at the Itchen Regatta earlier this month, with crews delivering a string of strong performances across a packed programme of events.
The standout performance on Saturday 9th May came from Esme Walters, who secured an impressive double gold during the regatta.
Esme first teamed up with Anna Scott to win the Ladies Senior Pair – marking the duo’s first senior pairs victory together.
Just 2 races later, Esme returned to the water and claimed her second gold medal of the day by winning the Ladies Novice Scull.
The club’s Men’s Junior Four of Fin Diffey, Paul Gamble, Isaac King and Tobin Green, coxed by Stella Gamble, reached the semi-finals as they continued their strong form this season.
Lottie Pettitt also progressed to the semi-finals of the Ladies Novice Scull, narrowly missing out to the eventual winner of the competition.
The Ladies Masters Four crew of Anna Scott, Stella Gamble, Lisa Atkin and Jane Bailey, with Esme Walters coxing, also reached the semi-finals before being beaten by the eventual gold medallists.
Elsewhere, Isaac King and Fin Diffey finished second in their heat in the Men’s Junior Pair event.
Digby Ridgwell and Tobin Green both competed in the Men’s Novice Scull, finishing third in their respective heats.
The Ladies Junior Four crew of Olivia Mumberson, Theodora Travers, Chloe Walker and Lottie Pettitt, coxed by Jane Bailey, also delivered a solid performance to finish second in their heat.
