Households in the Parkhurst, Northwood and Cowes areas are experiencing trouble with their water supply this evening (Wednesday) following a double burst on a water main.
Shortly before 17:00 Southern Water were alerted to a burst water main on Clissold Road off of Parkhurst Road. With contractors Clancy DocWra having repaired the problem and turning the water supply back on, a second burst occurred at around 20:30 under the pressure of the water passing through the pipe.
Now, the water main has been isolated with supplies rerouted meaning residents in the area are continuing to suffer issues with their water supply with a lack of pressure and potentially brown water once the original pipe is fully repaired.
A Southern Water spokesperson has told Island Echo that three properties in the area may not see water return on the rerouted pipe and will have to wait until the main pipe is brought back into service. No time frame has been given.
Southern Water would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
