A potentially life-threatening medical emergency on a farm has seen the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance touchdown on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Christmas Eve).
It was just before 14:00 that the out-of-area air ambulance landed in a field off Forest Road to assist crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
A critical care paramedic, ambulance crew and operational commander have now been joined by the flying medics, who bring with them enhanced pre-hospital expertise.
The incident, which is self-contained, remains ongoing at this time.
Forest Road remains open as normal in both directions.
UPDATE @ 15:40 – The air ambulance has flown the patient directly to Southampton General Hospital.
