A dog has been safely rescued from the beach at Freshwater after falling 40ft over a cliff edge earlier this evening (Sunday).
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were called to Fort Redoubt, Freshwater Bay at 17:15 to rescue a black Labrador who had ran over the cliff. The dog, called Blue, was being walked by friends of the dog’s owner when it ran from a distance and went over the cliff, becoming stranded on the beach at Watcombe Bay.
Amazingly, the dog was uninjured and was successfully recovered by both the Coastguard Rescue Team and Freshwater Independent Lifeboat. Blue was then returned to the dog walker at the top of the cliff, must to their relief.
