A dog has died following a flat fire in Lake, which saw firefighters from across the Isle of Wight mobilised to tackle the blaze.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Crews from Newport, Ryde, Shanklin and Ventnor were called to Sandown Road, between Flitcroft Gardens and Cemetery Road, to reports of a first-floor flat well alight.

A fire broke out in the top floor of the block, prompting the evacuation of residents as a precaution.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to bring the flames under control, while positive pressure ventilation was deployed to clear lingering smoke from the building.
Thankfully no human injuries have been reported, however it has since been confirmed that a dog died in the incident.
Sandown Road was closed in both directions while the incident was dealt with, with traffic diverted via Green Lane and Whitecross Lane. The incident has since been brought under control.
