Emergency services responded to reports of a distressed woman threatening to jump from the ferry link span in East Cowes during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
At just before 00:20, concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman at the Red Funnel car ferry terminal on Dover Road.
Fearing the distressed individual was going to jump into the icy cold waters, several Police units, Newport Coastguard Initial Response Team, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Cowes RNLI lifeboat all rushed to the scene.
Thankfully, officers from Hampshire Constabulary were able to talk the woman down and she was taken to safety.
