Family and friends have been left devastated over the death of an Isle of Wight man, who was found in the sea whilst on holiday in Colombia.
The victim, named by local officials as 30-year-old James Winkles, was found dead yesterday (Sunday) on the beach at popular tourist spot El Laugito, near Cartagena, on Colombia’s Caribbean coastline.
He had been on holiday in the South American country with his partner.
It is understood that James worked at his family’s business in Ryde – Westridge Garage.
The wider circumstances around his death remain unknown at this time.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office has said:
“We are supporting the family of a British national who has died in Colombia.”

This is devastating news.
We have known Westridge Garage, the family and staff for 20 years and James was the nicest, kindest young man you could wish to meet.
Sincerest sympathies to all at Westridge.
Well said, so young too.
