Danny Holmes was the emphatic winner of the Freshwater Bay Club Championships last Saturday (17th July).
Following a very good 74 in very testing conditions, Danny had a majestic 2 under par 67 on the Sunday to finish on 141.
He was 14 shots ahead of Bertie Everson who finished in 2nd place with a creditable closing round of 72. He won both the scratch and handicap competition over the 2 days.
Danny first joined Freshwater as a junior aged just 12. He went on to complete a golf and business degree and turned professional at 21, soon playing Europro and Jamega tour events. Sadly, serious injury cut short his professional career and he returned to the amateur game in 2018.
Victory was particularly sweet for Danny as he had finished as runner up in the 2 previous years.
