A cyclist is being rushed to hospital under blue lights and sirens after being hit by a vehicle in Ryde this evening (Wednesday). Emergency services were alerted to the collision on West Street at just before 18:30, with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deploying a critical care paramedic and an ambulance crew to Ryde. Cordons have now been erected around the scene of the incident – at the crossroad junction of Milligan Road and Adelaide Place – as Police await an update on the condition of the casualty. No one else has been injured. No arrests have been made. West Street is closed between Hill Street and Ratcliffe Avenue until further notice. Adelaide Place and Milligan Road are also both closed. UPDATE – All cordons have been lifted and the road has now re-opened. UPDATE Thursday – Police have confirmed that the cyclist’s injuries have been deemed ‘minor’.
