Fire crews have this morning (Wednesday) tackled a kitchen fire at a house in Ventnor which has also caused smoke damage to a neighbouring property.
Three appliances from Newport, Shanklin and Ventnor were called to the incident on Leeson Road alongside Police and Ambulance crews shortly after 04:00.
One person is understood to have suffered from the effects of smoke inhalation and has been treated by paramedics.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 06:00 hours, however remain on the scene this morning damping down the property and checking for any hot spots that may remain.
Southern Vectis Route 3 buses have been diverting via Whitely Bank this morning due to the road being blocked by emergency services, however one lane has now reopened allowing traffic to flow once again. Delays are likely in the area, so allow extra time for your journey.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Services’ Command Unit from Newport also attended the scene.
