UPDATED: A road traffic collision has forced the closure of Middle Road near Carisbrooke this morning (Thursday).
Emergency services are currently attending the incident on Calbourne Road – known locally as Middle Road – near to the junction with Alvington Road.
Island Echo understands the crash, which occurred shortly before 09:00, has involved a car and motorcycle.
Police have closed the road at The Waverley roundabout with all traffic being diverted locally.
Southern Vectis say Route 7 buses are diverting via Elm Lane and Gunville.
UPDATE @ 10:05 – A male motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with what has been described as ‘serious’ injuries.
The biker is said to have collided with a stationary vehicle.
The road has now re-opened in both directions.
