A 3-vehicle shunt on the approach to Yarbridge in Brading is causing delays on the main route between Ryde and Sandown this morning (Tuesday). The incident has occurred on New Road, on the approach to the busy crossroads junction, and is resulting in lengthy delays in the area. A paramedic and operational commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene having been called to the collision at around 09:45. Traffic is unable to divert locally via The Mall as the road is closed for roadworks. UPDATE @ 10:25 – Police are now on scene. The crash has involved a Mazda 2, a Mercedes Vito van and a Suzuki Vitara. Police have also attended a minor collision on Ashey Road this morning, which has since been cleared. UPDATE @ 10:55 – New Road has now been closed as recovery of the vehicles gets underway. Southern Vectis says that its Route 2 and Route 3 buses are diverting via Yaverland, Bembridge and St Helens in both directions until further notice. UPDATE – The road has now re-opened.
