A Cowes woman has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 for unlawfully using a disabled person’s blue badge while parked in Kent.
Paula MacLachlan, 58, of Baring Road, was found guilty of the offence, in her absence, at Bromley Magistrates Court on Tuesday 30th April.
The offence took place on 17th September 2024 at Waterside in Crayford, Kent. MacLachlan was found to have displayed a disabled person’s badge on a brown Volkswagen with registration PIL 7029 in circumstances where she was not entitled to do so.
The court heard that the badge was used in order to benefit from parking concessions that are legally reserved for registered disabled drivers or passengers under the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970.
She was prosecuted under Section 117(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Magistrates imposed a £200 fine, alongside an £80 victim surcharge and £800 in prosecution costs.
A collection order was made, with the total balance of £1,080 to be paid by 28th May 2025.
A big well done to Kent for catching an Islsnd Numpty.
Would never have got caught on the island, no one
stops vehicles parking on double yellow lines,
pavements or Zig Zags etc.
I popped to Union Street in Ryde yesterday and
noticed vehicles parked as usual outside Wetherspoons
in taxi bays and bus stops
NO ONE STOPS THEM
Lawless Isle
“Council enforcement officers are useless sack them
and employ real staff!”
There was also a sports vehicle parked in a disabled bay
opposite Wetherspoons displaying a blue badge.
(I don’t know what disabled person could drive such a vehicle)
Lol
I read on national news a few days ago that
Blue Badge fraud is rife in Britain.
In reply to Enough is enough , i am a blue badge holder and also have sports cars , why do you think i wouldn`t be able to drive them ?. Stupid ignorant comment.
