Cowes RNLI lifeboat responded to a pre-dawn emergency this morning (Monday) when it joined in an urgent search for someone reported to have disappeared off Southampton’s Itchen Bridge.
Having launched at 05:25, the lifeboat proceeded to relieve Calshot RNLI and Hamble independent lifeboats to painstakingly search the River Itchen from Southampton Water to Northam Bridge, and back again.
Also taking part in the search were both Calshot RNLI lifeboats, Hamble Lifeboat, a Southampton Harbour launch, Coastguard Rescue Helicopters from Lee-on-Solent and St Athans, and shoreside Coastguard Rescue Teams.
Nothing was found.
Cowes Lifeboat returned to its station at 08:25.
