A 13-year-old boy is spreading festive cheer with a spectacular Christmas light display on Highfield Road in Cowes, all in aid of the Vectis Corps of Drums Marching Band.
Thomas Young is once again transforming his family home into a glowing festive attraction, raising money for the local marching band of which he and his brother Charlie are proud members.
The display is number 16 on this year’s Light up the Wight map – and Thomas is hoping for your vote!
Thomas first lit up his street in 2020 at just 8 years old, and his display has grown year-on-year. Over the past 2 years, he’s raised more than £450 for Isle of Wight charities and is hoping to boost that total further throughout December.
Thomas said:
“I love seeing people smile when they come to see the lights, and it’s great to be able to help local charities at the same time.
Everyone is loving the new snow machine this year.”
The lights are switched on daily from 17:00 to 20:30 throughout December, extending to 16:30 during the school holidays. Visitors can enjoy the festive display and donate by visiting the fundraising site at the link below.
