24-year-old Lily Nash, who verbally assaulted a woman just moments after she intercepted in her attempts to steal more than £650 from Sainsbury’s, will learn her fate next month.
Nash, of Atkinson Drive in Newport, admitted 2x theft from a shop and using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment alarm or distress when she stood before Magistrates on Tuesday (15th April).
Prosecutor Giles Fletcher told the court that on 22nd January, Nash entered the Co-op on Sandown High Street and stole goods – mostly alcohol – to the value of £16.95. The goods were not recovered.
Then, 2 months later, Nash and another individual entered Sainsbury’s in Newport and placed goods to the value of £662.53 in a trolley before attempting to leave. On their way out of the shop they were approached by Sainsbury’s staff tried to stop them before promptly calling Police.
In the commotion that ensued, Nash – who has 10 convictions for 23 offences – called someone a ‘bimbo c**t’ and said ‘I hope your daughter gets r*ped’.
Police recovered the goods and returned them to the store.
Defending Nash, Oscar Vincent told the court that his client made no excuse for her behaviour on the days in question and that the offending occurred during what described as a ‘vulnerable’ period.
The court heard how Nash has now sought professional help to address the issues in her life and is confident she can turn a corner.
Magistrates opted to adjourn the case until 30th May to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled.
As if the stealing ain’t bad enough, it’s the
verbal assaulting that is UNFORGIVABLE!
Whatever happened to respect!
Only 1 place for such a vile person
BEHIND BARS.
This female needs some serious talking to and strong legal outcomes ( like jail)
Her behaviour is nothing short of despicable
This rat bag will end up back here again and again !! It’s like there scared to send this thing to prison
I just have trouble with defence lawyers that trot out the same trite make believe excuses for their clients behaviour,I look forward to the day a defence lawyer actually gets up and states his client is guilty, is a complete idiot with no redeemable qualities and should be imprisoned, then maybe the legal profession may get some respect.
She is a young female with “problems”. There will be all the usual litany of mitigation and excuses and she will walk free to do it all again within days.
