The court case against the owner of Ryde’s Hazelgrove Farm, brought about following a cryptosporidium outbreak, was heard for the first time in Southampton this week.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has brought the prosecution against Sharon Wheeler following a lengthy investigation into an outbreak of cryptosporidium at the Ashey Road farm back in 2023.
On Tuesday, the case against Ms Wheeler – who didn’t attend court – was heard at West Hampshire Magistrates’ Court.
Wheeler has been charged with a single count of employer/self-employed person fail to discharge general health/safety duty to person other than employee.
The alleged offending occurred between 3rd April 2023 and 2nd May 2023 – 2 years ago.
The case has now been adjourned until 26th September at the same venue.
It is unclear why the matter is being heard in a mainland court.
