A man and woman charged in connection with the death of toddler Jayla-Jean McLaren are due to appear in the Crown Court this week.
Samara Glover, 27, of Dairy Crest Drive in Newport, and Adrian Lawton, 31, of the same address, are both accused of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.
The charges relate to the death of 18-month-old Jayla-Jean McLaren, who died at Southampton General Hospital on 3rd August last year after being taken there with life-threatening injuries on 1st August.
As previously reported by Island Echo, both defendants appeared before Portsmouth Crown Court earlier this year, where a provisional trial date had been set.
The pair had been due to appear on the mainland for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 23rd March, but the hearings were adjourned.
The pair – who remain in Police custody – will now enter pleas on Thursday (14th May).
