A new free festival comes to Newport Minster as part of the National Heritage Open Days Scheme to celebrate hidden aspects of the Island’s county town on Saturday 7th September. A number of Newport’s historic buildings will be open for free, in addition to tours, talks and activities for all ages, including the launch of Newport Minster’s new Remix the Minster project designed and delivered by 16 – 25 year olds. Local shops are being encouraged to explore their history by the Newport Business Association and share their history. The Classic Motor Show will have hundreds of classic vehicles on show on Newport Quay. The Minster is working alongside Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, Shaping Newport, Newport Business Association and the Classic Motor show. The Minster will also be welcoming a series of special guests to help you discover more about local history. Hannah Griffiths, Community Engagement Manager at Newport Minster, says:
“We’re really looking forward to hosting this amazing event for Newport with all kinds of different activities to help people learn more and feel connected to Newport.”
