All are welcome to the big switch-on of the Long Lane Christmas lights display in Newport tomorrow (Saturday 3rd December) at 18:00.
Terry and Sue Ramplin have been lighting up their house at 68 Long Lane for over 22 years now, raising thousands of pounds for charity in the process. Since 2014 alone, the couple have handed out a staggering £34,000 to local good causes.
This year’s chosen charity is the IW Prostate Cancer Support Group. The charity also benefitted from 2021’s display with a donation of £2,250 made earlier this year.
As always there will be a countdown to the big reveal at just before 18:00, with the Vectis Corps of Drums marching band providing musical entertainment. And the good news is that the weather looks set to be dry, but cold – a stark contrast to the wind and rain experienced in recent years.
The lights will be on every night until the New Year with families welcomed onto the driveway as normal to enjoy the plethora of lights – with a kind ask of a donation to charity.
Long Lane is taking part in this year’s Light up the Wight, brought to you by Island Echo and sponsored by Southern Vectis. The official map is now live with the opportunity to vote for your favourite display at www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas.
