One of the Isle of Wight Council’s most senior figures has announced he will be stepping down next year after 7 years of service to the Island.
Colin Rowland, strategic director for community services, will leave his post on 31st March 2026.
During his tenure, he provided strong leadership and strategic direction, helping deliver high-quality services and key infrastructure projects across the Island.
Mr Rowland said the decision came after careful reflection and a desire to explore new opportunities.
He’s said:
“It has been an honour to serve the Island community and work alongside such dedicated colleagues.
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and will do everything I can to ensure a smooth handover before moving on to new challenges.”
Chief executive, Wendy Perera, has paid tribute to Mr Rowland’s contribution:
“Colin has been a highly valued member of our senior team.
“His professionalism and dedication have been instrumental in delivering key infrastructure projects and strengthening services to ensure they meet the needs of our residents.”
So announced he is leaving just after the damning report.
Anyone know why the Leader of the Council hasn’t resigned yet?
Evidently Colin has not been well and absent for periods. Others have stepped up. I suspect there might be no need to replace him. Looks like a cost saving of £150-180k?
