Part of Ryde town centre has been cordoned off following a potentially serious incident tonight (Friday).
Officers are on the scene at Garfield Road, where a cordon has been erected outside the Friends of the Animals shop and Fox’s estate agents at the bottom of the pedestrianised section of High Street.
It’s understood an injured individual has received medical attention following the incident, which occurred shortly before 23:00.
A thermal blanket can be seen left on the pavement within the potential crime scene.
Street Pastors on patrol in the area have provided witness
All traffic is being diverted at St Thomas’ Square, at the top of Union Street. This includes Southern Vectis’ Route 4 and 9 buses, which are diverting via Monkton Street and St John’s Road until further notice.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 01:00 – All cordons have now been lifted.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement.
