A sudden, life-threatening cardiac arrest on the Esplanade at Ryde prompted a large emergency response to the town this afternoon (Monday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service mobilised an ambulance crew, 2 rapid response paramedics and an operational commander to the scene at just before 15:00.
It had been reported that an individual had gone into cardiac arrest and required life-saving intervention.
Police mobilised 5 units to the seafront – a common occurrence when such an emergency happens in a public place – with a cordon erected around the area to keep the public at bay.
The patient was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, with the incident concluding by 15:15.
I pray the person is ok, I thought in such cases usually
going to the hospitals in Pompey or Soton is the option.

I was there, just returning to the hovercraft and saw the poor man in a bad way so I really hope he makes a good recovery. Best wishes to his family.
