Southern Water is carrying out emergency works to fix a leak at its pumping station on Ventnor Esplanade, it has been confirmed.
Tankers are working around the clock to transport wastewater away from the Lion Point pumping station on the Esplanade following the discovery of a ‘fault’.
A hive of activity began on Saturday night, with a constant stream of tankers coming and going between Ventnor and the Sandown Treatment Works ever since.
Engineers are said to be working as quickly as possible to complete repairs.
A Southern Water spokesperson has said:
“Our teams have been working through the night to repair a fault that occurred at one of our pumping stations near Ventnor Esplanade on Sunday (Dec 28).
“Tankers are currently on site to manage the leak.

Well at least they are trying to remove the $h1t to the sewage works. Normally they would pump it out to sea.

East Cowes have had loads of tankers recently along the
Esplanade, makes one wonder why over 20+ tankers were
there for a number of days.
We’ve had many (14) tankers working at east Cowes esplanade on and off for ages now ,wonder if it’s been the same problem we had here
