Kemi Badenoch, the apparent favourite to become the next leader of the Conservative Party, is visiting the Isle of Wight today (Saturday).
In just 2 weeks’ time the winner of the leadership contest will be revealed, with Kemi going head to head against Robert Jenrick to become Rishi Sunak’s replacement as Leader of the Opposition.
Ahead of the winner being revealed on 2nd November Kemi has brought her campaign to the Island, talking to Conservative members at Shanklin Conservative Club this afternoon.
Former Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely – an old friend of the North West Essex MP – has helped arrange today’s visit and has accompanied Kemi on her visit to Shanklin, and will later join her at Wight Shipyard in East Cowes too.
No doubt Kemi will be posing for a photograph in front of the iconic Union Flag, as have many other Conservative MPs in recent years.
Kemi Badenoch is seen to be on the right wing side of the Party with her hardline views, but is often noted as being a fresh voice within the Conservatives.
Speaking on her appearance at Shanklin Conservative Club, Bob Seely has said:
“Her message is a simple one: we need to renew our Party to win. We know Labour are failing. For Conservatives to get back in the game, we need to rebuild trust and we need someone to unite us around a common goal and vision.
“Personally, I am supporting Kemi because she is a conviction politician, and we need people like that leading our party. I have known her from the first day we entered Parliament together in 2017. She’s a friend and she’ll be the great leader that we need to rebuild.
“Thank you to Shanklin Conservative Club for hosting”.

Your party will never win, politics has changed, reform is now the way to go,and to have an immigrant at the helm is laughable
I support Reform too, but must point out that Kemi was born in Wimbledon unless, you’re referring to Boris who is an immigrant having been born overseas.
I wonder how many voters are now upset
Labour are running the show.
Voting Reform put Labour in Power and just
wait until Labour’s pre Halloween budget.
Spooky
Seely clearly hopes for a comeback. I doubt carrying Mrs Heartless’ handbag will advance that ambition too far
At least Seely wouldn’t have attacked the elderly
who have worked all their life and have had their winter
fuel allowance taken away from them.
Shows a Labour Government cannot be trusted.
Is there some kind of evidence that shows that the elderly worked all of their lives? There are plenty of people who seem to have successfully avoided getting their hands dirty for a good many years.
Bob Seedy avoided getting his hands dirty for an entire 8-year stretch. He sat around eating sausages and drinking mouthwash instead of fulfilling the duties of an MP – or so I am told by one supposedly reliable source.
Kemi knows the difference between a man and a woman and isn’t frightened of the woke brigade, unlike snivelling Starmer.
One loser hosting another. Probably the only time I’d have hoped the ferries weren’t running.
I note that half a sausage had to poke his nose in, but he is right about one thing, she should be convicted along with the rest of them !
Half a sausage is right, she should be convicted along with the rest of them
Front row, second from the right. Seems to have fallen asleep. Well done Kemi.
Is that a bottle of mouthwash in Half A Sausage’s hand?
is she the best option for leader of the CONservatives ??
well Aptronymically she’s nearly Bad Enough… so probably
