UPDATED: Concerns are growing for a missing Wootton woman who hasn’t been seen since lunchtime yesterday (Saturday).
Victoria Bailey, 53, has gone missing from her home in Red Road, Wootton. She is said to have not been in the best state of mind in recent months and it is understood to have been last seen in Morrisons, Newport.
It is believed Mrs Bailey is still on the Island.
This morning, Police have launched a search to locate Victoria. Local search and rescue team WightSAR have been placed on standby.
UPDATE @ 10:55 – WightSAR have been deployed to assist in the search for missing Victoria Bailey.
It has been confirmed that Coastguard Rescue 104 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent is currently conducting a shoreline search of the Freshwater Bay and Military Road areas in relation to the missing person search.
UPDATE @ 12:30 – The search for Mrs Bailey continues this lunchtime involving numerous Police officers and volunteer search and rescue operatives.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary remain at Victoria’s home in Wootton.
UPDATE @ 13:31 – The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have searched along the South Coast of the Island between Blackgang and Tennyson Down this morning after being tasked to assist in the search at 04:00.
The volunteer rescue team have now been stood down, however the search continues for missing Victoria Bailey. WightSAR remain on the ground assisting Police.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 08:45 – Police are this morning continuing their search for Vicky Bailey, who hasn’t been seen since Saturday. The search was suspended last night due to the fading light.
The search is now focusing around the Brighstone area and WightSAR continue to assist Police.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 17:00 – Police have this afternoon renewed their appeal for information as to the whereabouts of Victoria Bailey, who hasn’t been seen in over 48 hours.
Despite a search by Police and WightSAR, as well as the Coastguard, Mrs Bailey has still not been located.
Now, a CCTV image of Vicky in Morrisons in Newport has been released. This was the last time she was seen at 13:20 on Saturday.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – The search has once again been called off tonight due to the fading light.
Search teams were stood down at 21:40.
Anyone who may know where Victoria is, even if you are unsure if it is her, are asked to contact Police on 101. If it’s urgent, dial call 999.
