Ballyrags Comedy Club returns to Fubar in Ryde tomorrow (Thursday) for another night of top-notch comedy, with Bobby Mair – as seen on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Russell Howard’s Good News – headlining. The Canadian-born comedian makes his debut on the Island at Ballyrags, having previously supported Jerry Sadowitz, Doug Stanhope and Bill Burr, and he is also a second cousin once removed of Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, although maintains they’ve never met. Bobby is the latest in a list of top-tier comedians to touch down a the newly formed comedy club, joining such luminaries as Alistair Williams and Tony Law in making the trip across the Solent. With support from King Gong winner Shannon Sumfing, Hampshire Comedian of the Year, Elliot Milner, Chichester Fringe New Act of the Year, Baron Fortitude and the up-and-coming Islander Alex Toye, Ballyrags is promising its best night yet. Ballyrags co-founder Toby Brown said:
“I never thought we’d be hosting some of the UK’s best comics at our humble club. It’s been an amazing journey, the evolution from the first show in April to what we’ve got lined up next is just unreal, I’m really excited for this week’s show, and what the future holds for Ballyrags in general.”
Co-founder Luc Valvona added:
“We’re so grateful to see that the Island has so many comedy fans who are eager to support us, and we, in turn, are eager to support the local talent on the Island and grow our own comedy scene.”
Ballyrags is held every third Thursday of the month at Fubar on Union Street, Ryde. Online tickets are £12.00 and are available via ballyrags.com, with limited availability tickets at £15.00 on the door.
Looks like he is just working on the “island stare”. Pretty good effort.
He does not have enough eyes for that.
