This Saturday (4th September) will see a full Island League fixture list for the first time this season as Combination 1 and 2 teams start their season. Both combination leagues have 11 teams.
Last season, Combination 1 was won by Whitecroft & Barton Sports Reserves, who finished ahead of Northwood St Johns Reserves on goal difference. Bembridge Reserves are the reigning champions of Combination 2; Osborne Coburg finished in 2nd place.
Meanwhile, Cowes Sports are the only Island Wessex League team in action this Saturday. The Yachtsmen, who currently lie in 4th place in the Wessex Premier, have a comparatively easy home tie against 17th-placed Amesbury Town, a side they comfortably beat 0-2 in Wiltshire on the opening day of the season.
Wessex League 1 pacesetters, Newport, will hope to extend their lead at the top of the table when they travel to Dorset to face 8th-placed Verwood Town.
East Cowes Vics, currently occupying 12th place in Wessex League 1, will journey to North Hampshire to face a strong Andover New Street side, who knocked Cowes out of the Wessex League Cup at Westwood Park on Tuesday.
In the Island League, Shanklin, who currently top Division 1, are without a game. 2nd-placed Bembridge have the chance to go top if they beat a strong Oakfield side at Steyne Park. 3rd-placed Whitecroft & Barton Sports, the only side left in the top division with a 100% record, face Northwood St Johns at Sandy Lane.
In Island League Division 2, leaders ECS, who went 5 points clear on Tuesday by beating Newport Reserves 6-2, are also without a fixture. 2nd-placed Pan are away to Osborne-Coburg; 3rd-placed Wootton have a home tie against bottom-of-the-table Wroxall; 4th-placed High Park are at home to Ventnor.
