UPDATED: A road traffic collision in Wootton has resulted in the closure of the main road between Ryde and Newport this lunchtime (Tuesday).
Lushington Hill has been closed between the Racecourse Roundabout and Station Road following a collision involving a Suzuki pick-up van, a Red Mazda MX5 and a White Iveco lorry outside Lushington Hill Garden Centre.
Police and ambulance crews are on scene alongside one appliance from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
It was initially reported that one person was trapped, however they managed to free themselves from the wreckage of their vehicle by the time emergency services arrived. One other person has sustained a shoulder injury and one a slight neck injury, however there have been no serious injuries as a result of the three vehicle collision.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, diverting via Staplers Road. Route 9 buses are diverting via Staplers in both directions.
The road, which has a quantity of spilt diesel on the carriageway, is expected to remain closed for at least the next hour, according to Island Roads.
UPDATE @ 14:55 – Lushington Hill has fully re-opened in both directions.
