UPDATED: A collision on the outskirts of Havenstreet between a car and a refuse lorry has resulted in the road becoming impassable this morning (Tuesday).
Emergency services including the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are currently attending the incident on Combley Road, where it is understood a waste lorry has collided with another vehicle resulting in one male becoming trapped.
Two fire appliances are in attendance.
UPDATE @ 11:02 – Ambulance crews have in the last few minutes left the scene on blue lights following the extrication of a male from his vehicle by firefighters. A female involved in the crash has not required any hospital treatment.
Two appliances from Ryde Fire Station attended the incident, however have also now left the scene.
The refuse lorry involved in the incident, belonging to Biffa, has been driven away from the scene with damage visible to the drivers side.
UPDATE @ 11:50 – It has been confirmed that 45-year-old male has been conveyed to hospital after being cut free from the wreckage of a Red Toyota Yaris. The extent of his injuries are currently unknown.
The road is expected to reopen shortly.
