A field of 108 members celebrated the reopening of Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club’s refurbished clubhouse with a sunshine-soaked Texas Scramble on Saturday.
A total of 27 teams took to the fairways at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club on Saturday 28th February, combining competitive action with the chance to mark the reopening of the club’s newly refurbished clubhouse.
Despite recent wet weather meaning a ‘carry only’ restriction was in place to protect the course, conditions were ideal under clear skies – and spirits remained high throughout.In the ladies’ competition, Caroline Warne, Jacky Cook, Bev Lowrie and Chris Gould claimed victory with an impressive net 57.
Third place overall went to Dom Norris, James Hilson, Christian Piche and Matt Taylor on net 50. Runners-up were Simon Booth, Neil Griffin, Andy Warren and Chris Ridett with net 48.
Taking top honours on the day were club captain Dorian Cobb, ladies captain Vicki Guildford, Ray Winter and Gary Penhall, who secured victory with an excellent net 46. Nearest the Pin prizes went to Chris Ridett on the 5th and James Hilson on the 11th.
