12 metres of fencing has now been erected near to Lake Cliff Gardens by HSS Hire for the public’s safety after the pinned section of cliff fell to the revetment below, the second landslip in the area in recent weeks.
Several bands of heavy rain and strong winds have caused a number of small slips on the Island, including one in Bonchurch on Friday.
The public are reminded that cliff edges can be dangerous and are urged to take extra caution when walking in the area or other coastal routes which could be prone to land slips.
The cliff path from Lake Cliff Gardens to Shanklin has been closed.
No property has been damaged and no persons were injured.
