Members of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir were first in line for homemade cakes and drinks after delivering a Sunday afternoon concert at Holy Cross Church in Binstead.
The concert, held in support of church funds, featured a wide range of music that showcased the choir’s versatility. The audience enjoyed show tunes such as Anthem from Chess, New York, New York, and selections from West Side Story, along with Sweet Caroline, Let There Be Peace on Earth, and Morte Christe.
Soloist Richard Knowles performed Old Man River before being joined by Alan Finch for a powerful rendition of The Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera.
The event, including proceeds from a raffle, raised over £350 for Holy Cross Church.
Bob Cooper, Vice Chair of the Choir, has said:
“It was nearly 20 years since the choir sang in Holy Cross, and we still have a couple of members who performed then!
“We enjoyed the afternoon and the reception of the audience, who then wanted MORE! which really shows how singing relaxes people and brings happiness.
“Thank you to the Holy Cross members for the splendid refreshments. It certainly rounded off a lovely event.”
